Rugged, Reliable and Accurate Pipeline Integrity Survey Instruments

Welcome to CATHODIC TECHNOLOGY LIMITED. We are a Canadian ISO 9001:2015 registered company with global distribution specializing in corrosion prevention and control equipment. Incorporated in 1980, we began by performing pipeline integrity management surveys, cathodic protection consulting, and other work in the corrosion industry. Being dissatisfied with the available field equipment, we started designing equipment to meet the unique demands of the corrosion industry professional. Our equipment has been engineered & designed from the ground up by corrosion professionals for use by corrosion professionals worldwide. Today, our focus is purely on designing, manufacturing and providing the finest professional grade, contractor tough pipeline integrity survey equipment available on the market.

Our product offering is lead by the Hexcorder, a GPS synchronized survey instrument capable of performing close interval potential surveys (CIPS), direct current voltage gradient surveys  (DCVG) or combined CIPS & DCVG overland pipeline surveys. This gives a pipeline operator critical data on the condition of their pipe coating by identifying coating defects and the performance of their pipeline cathodic protection system. The data is stored and downloaded as a .csv file, which can be imported into the software of the customer’s choice or easily analysed in Excel. No special software required! The Hexcorder is complimented by our complete range of GPS synchronized current interrupters, capable of interrupting a range of amperage’s.

Additionally, we offer numerous styles of data loggers. Our Smart Logger is GPS synchronized, allowing the surveyor to record dynamic stray current or telluric interference data on a pipeline survey. The CorrReader is designed to allow non-technical users to obtain valid cathodic protection data from single point surveys, such as test stations or tank farms to satisfy regulatory compliance requirements. All Cath-Tech brand data loggers store GPS time and location for each & every reading to help satisfy regulatory compliance documentation requirements.

Finally, we make a range of GPS synchronized current interrupters, both portable and for retrofit into rectifiers. Cath-Tech was the first to integrate GPS synchronization between the data loggers and current interrupters, allowing a shorter and more accurate interruption cycle and eliminating the need to regularly resynchronize them.

With a comprehensive, industry leading, 2 year warranty the Cath-Tech CP survey instrument family  provide a seamless solution to many of the critical demands of todays pipeline integrity management and  asset protection programs or regulatory compliance concerns.

Understanding Waveforms, World Pipelines January 2020

Waveforms, or scopes, have been around in the world of close interval potential surveys (CIS/CIPS) for decades, but are often underutilised. A lack of knowledge about their usefulness is the main cause. The name associated with the data comes from the equipment used to obtain it. The reading is taken with an oscilloscope-like device (hence ‘scope read’), which displays and records the waveform of a set period. Many modern CIS instruments have this ability built in, making it easy to view and record a waveform during a survey.
